    Position Summary

     

    The Assistant Product Development Manager helps develop seasonal and core products for Color Cosmetic and Holiday categories that meet Arbonne brand strategies. This unique role combines creative R&D, color matching, and technical transfer with strong project management skills. Under the direction of the Product Manager, the Assistant Product Manager will assist the product development process, from formula concept to pilot production, and work with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Quality, and R&D. This position ensures all products are launched on time and meet high quality standards to drive and sustain category growth.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate formulation process from concept to production to ensure quality, appearance and effectiveness.
    • Expert in developing color cosmetics in all areas of complexion, lip, eye, and seasonal color stories.
    • Analyze trends and fashion forecasts.
    • Oversee formula scale up and technical transfer process onsite and at third party manufacturers.
    • Establish innovative Research & Development ingredient platforms through active research of new technologies, active ingredients and competitive analysis.
    • Identify benchmarks and/or develop formula prototypes.
    • Create and distribute comprehensive Product Development Requests (PDR’s).
    • Assist in official formula briefings to both internal R&D and external contract manufacturers.
    • Assist on-site lab work independently with R&D to direct shade/texture development when required.
    • Create content and implement product related survey for internal and consultant panel testing.
    • Initiate Regulatory ingredient and formula assessments.
    • Partner, motivate, and support R&D to obtain the highest quality standards.
    • Assist in communication with all safety and efficacy testing.
    • Provide technical product information for Marketing collateral and communication managers about issues relating to managing people.
    • Collaborate with Regulatory, Legal, Marketing, and Supply Chain departments to ensure compliance of product claims and formulas for existing and/or new emerging markets.
    • Travel to pilots as needed.
    • Help manage, approve and track pilot and first 3 production standards and specifications.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree; Chemistry a plus
    • Must have at least 4-5 years of experience in product development in the beauty industry with a strong background in color cosmetics and technical aspects
    • OTC experience required
    • R&D Bench Chemist background a plus
    • Familiarity with process engineering and technical transfer preferred
    • Must have product launch experience working with third party contract manufacturers
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Able to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
    • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
